This is one of the boys next door. He is one of my favorite kids to photograph. He is trying to “drink” some rain. He has a copy of this on his bedroom wall.

I love this old cowboy saying: “Never mistake a clear view for a short distance.”

Page Rim Trail, Arizona was like Moab, Utah, but with water views. For the best light, we rode at the end of the day. Three flat tires from cactus would have ruined my day on an east coast bike ride. Not on the Rim Trail. It allowed you a chance to stop and take in the view.

Spending can get away from you when you are carefree and somebody else is paying the bill. I am very thankful for what I have when I see how the rest of the world lives…

There is quite the feeling of peace when you are beside a fire at magic hour. Time to contemplate the good things this election speaks to the oppressed parts of the world.

Great to vote today. We are crossing a river in many ways. May the transition be peaceful.

Been in the woods at Patapsco Park photographing for our holiday card. Spent a lot of time in this park with my dogs over the years. Now Gizi (left in above photo) is gone and when I walk through the park with my new puppies, I can’t help but feel overcome by the physical and visual sense of “change.” It is ever constant. Especially now, during this election season. Change may be something we like or don’t like…but it will come at us either way. Like each falling leaf, it has its own purpose and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.

Snow has come early this year. Soon we’ll see it in Maryland. I have two new puppies who will see it for the first time. I couldn’t ask for something more fun to photograph.

One of the best downhills I have ever ridden, Bunker Creek Utah. 12 miles of downhill from 11,300′ to about 3,000′. I wish this election happened as fast as that ride. I think the people have had their minds made up for months. The important thing I try to remember is that at least we can vote when more than half the world can’t. It says more to the governments that don’t…..

A few more days and we’ll be on to something different to read in the newspapers. The shift in balance of power between the new media and old has been a huge learning experience for me.
I’ve been thinking a lot about a quote by Thomas Pynchon, “If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don’t have to worry abut the answers.”
Some want to watch the
knife that cuts us apart, I prefer to see the reflections of the better parts of our country’s character in each of the parties.
In troubled times this country has always helped people in need. I imagine more help than most. There is never Democrat or Republican attached to anything we give.
