Antietam Creek, Deer in the Air
The Battle of Antietam, or The Battle of Sharpsburg as the southerners call it, gives this creek a very heavy feeling when you’ve spent as much time as I have near it. Tubing, camping, night mountain biking, night canoeing and wading much of it all the while photographing. I’ve spent over 20 years getting to know the light there.
White Sands National Monument, New Mexico
It rained an hour before we got there. You could ride your bike on the wet dunes without sinking in. Before I got there I kept thinking it would be such a cliche place to photograph but once you are there you cannot help shooting roll after roll…. The white kept me thinking I needed a coat. An east coast winter reaction.
On the Set of Die Hard 4, Filmed in Baltimore
Just read in VARIETY that the major studios are gearing up for a rush of feature films. SAG strike? Hope not…
Memorial Bridge, Washington DC
This fall day was like Colorado. The wind was pushing the low clouds faster than usual for DC. The sky was Kodachrome blue. I always have a camera with me and I lucked into this wonderful lighting.
Fall Light, Liberty Lake
Polaroid, my first digital/instant gratification camera. I will miss that image process. My first SX-70 camera I bought used in 1979. I still have most of the good images I shot with it.
Fall is here in Maryland
I have always liked the way you physically mark time with seasons. I worked in LA a few times during the holidays and it didn’t feel quite real. Here on the east coast the changing leaves and film flowing through my camera speed me into the first snowstorm. I closed all of the windows in the house tonight.
Painting a Picture
Capitol Columns at the National Arboretum
The current political season reminded me of this shot and the turmoil under which Lincoln was sworn in.
